ABOUT
"ILLOCANA" (ee-loh-kah-nah) combines ill as in “cool” and Ilocana, the name of women indigenous to the coastal Ilocos region in the Philippines, as a homage to founder Katrina’s upbringing as a Filipino-American in Queens, New York. Her love for fashion was nurtured by her lola (grandmother) since she was a child, bolstered by the world around her as she grew up: NYC strangers and friends, fashion blogs on Tumblr, and her own queerness.
Founded in 2019, ILLOCANA is a fusion of the avant-garde, the past and the future, and a deep love for self-expression and community. It is an unabashed exploration of femininity, streetwear, and grunge through curated vintage clothing, both statement pieces and versatile staples.
In an endeavor to promote sustainable, conscious shopping and secondhand fashion, nurture meaningful and supportive relationships between NYC creatives, and dress up the gworls, ILLOCANA hosts Markette, a femme-led, curated fashion market.
